explicit knowledge

Short Definition
Knowledge that can be easily articulated, documented, and shared, such as manuals, instructions, and written processes. Unlike tacit knowledge, explicit knowledge is formal and structured, making it easier to communicate and store for future use.
Relevance
Explicit knowledge refers to information that is easy to document and share, which can be valuable for community knowledge stewardship. However, focusing only on explicit knowledge risks excluding Indigenous and other traditional forms of knowledge that are more relational and less easily captured in written form, leading to erasure.
