Indigeneity

Short Definition
The state or quality of being Indigenous, referring to the cultural, historical, and social identities of Indigenous peoples, including their connection to land, community, and traditional knowledge systems.
Relevance
Indigeneity emphasizes the relationship between Indigenous peoples and their lands, cultures, and knowledge systems. In tech, it requires recognizing and incorporating Indigenous knowledge in a respectful, non-extractive way. Tech must be co-created with Indigenous communities, ensuring data sovereignty and avoiding the exploitation of Indigenous resources.
