initiation

Short Definition
The first phase of a project, where the idea is developed, and feasibility is assessed. It includes setting objectives, defining scope, and getting approval to move forward with planning and execution.
Relevance
Initiation is the first stage of a predictive project, where goals are set. In the context of projects related to tech literacy + accessibility, harm reduction, and data/knowledge stewardship, initiation should include community consultation and focus on the needs of equity-deserving groups. Involving these communities early on ensures that projects are inclusive from the outset and are built on principles of care and sustainability.
