Ailin Dong

New media artist

Ailin Dong is a Shanghai- and Toronto-based interaction designer, interdisciplinary artist, and researcher whose work explores the convergence of mixed reality, AI, and narrative-driven experiences. Her practice spans responsive environments, textile interfaces, and computational media, grounded in a critical inquiry into embodiment, identity, and human-machine relationships. Alongside her creative work, she conducts research in digital health and sensory technologies, examining how interactive systems can mediate care, presence, and perception. She is also the co-founder of Xdaeta, a research-driven project exploring wearable media and hybrid aesthetics. Her work has been exhibited internationally and recognized by platforms including Nuit Blanche Toronto, UX Design Awards, Lancôme, and Shanghai Fashion Week.
