The Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth (USAY)

About
The Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth (USAY) focuses on supporting Indigenous youth in urban areas through culturally relevant and technologically informed programs rooted in Indigenous knowledge and community-led initiatives. It offers a range of programs that address cultural identity, mental health, education, and skill-building. By centering Indigenous youth perspectives and collaborating with Elders and community partners, USAY creates programs like the IndigiTRAILS app, Grief Circle gatherings, and Indigenous Tech 101 workshops that help youth reconnect with their heritage, build resilience, and access practical resources. USAY’s work includes interactive tools, mental health supports, and initiatives that bridge traditional knowledge with modern technology, such as virtual and augmented reality projects. Programs like A Warrior’s Journey and Changemaker Awards provide platforms for Indigenous youth to lead and showcase their impact. USAY aims to address systemic barriers faced by Indigenous youth by fostering community, cultural pride, and advocacy, allowing them to reclaim space and agency in their lives and communities.
