Dr. Sandra Yellowhorse

About
Dr. Sandra Yellowhorse is a Kinyaa'aanii (Towering House People) born for the French of the Diné Nation (Navajo). They are a Critical Indigenous Disability Studies scholar and work in the niché field of Indigenous Inclusive Education. Yellowhorse’s scholarly work is rooted in Diné storytelling which examines philosophies of 'disability' from an Indigenous perspective. They utilise Diné ancestral, land-based knowledge to examine the nature of being, identity, belonging, wellbeing and creative learning. Their work seeks reframe social, medical and political understandings of disability by advancing Indigenous values, story, and voice as counter-narratives that carry profound teachings about our diversity.
