FirstVoices provides a platform for communities to create their own “language site” where create, edit, host, and maintain content.Tech Literacy & Accessibility: FirstVoices has various projects that allow contents to be more accessible on multiple devices. They have the website where each language site is hosted. They also have interactive dictionary apps for Android and iOS, as well as keyboard software that can be installed on Mac, PC, and mobile devices.Reducing Harm in New Media: By allowing this technology to be accessible, FirstVoices gives Indigenous folks more opportunity to connect with their culture and roots.Data & Knowledge Stewardship: FirstVoices gives communities the agency to create and manage their own content on their language sites. Members retain all ownership of the content they create and have the ability to make them visible to the public or privately amongst a small group of people.
