A community event and event structure created by Diana Nucera and the Detroit Digital Justice Coalition (DDJC) that featured consultation stations, electronics workshops, film screenings, and workshops about the Internet, electronics, and public policy.

DiscoTech provides hands-on tech education, empowering marginalized communities by demystifying complex digital concepts and addressing digital inequities.Tech Literacy & Accessibility: Created by Diana Nucera and the Detroit Digital Justice Coalition, DiscoTech empowers communities with practical digital knowledge through workshops on electronics, internet safety, and public policy. This hands-on event promotes tech literacy for historically excluded communities by making complex digital concepts accessible and relevant to their everyday experiences. Reducing Harm in New Media: By fostering digital literacy that addresses surveillance, inequity, and technology’s potential harms, DiscoTech mitigates the digital divide and supports communities in resisting exploitative tech practices. Data & Knowledge Stewardship: DiscoTech fosters community knowledge by creating spaces where members can document, share, and exchange valuable insights on technology, privacy, and safety. This approach to digital justice emphasizes knowledge-sharing within the community, ensuring that the information remains grounded in and responsive to local needs rather than corporate interests.
